Recipe Sites: A Few of my Favorites
Since I'm still not a professional chef (by any means), and it can be scary, but fun to just throw together ingredients and hope for the best. Sometimes it comes out beautifully. And then there are the times when it's an absolute flop. However, we live and learn! I'm very lucky that my husband always eats my flops with a huge smile, while whispering under his breath to my children, "Quit gagging, you'll hurt your mom's feelings."
Some days, I do like to start with a recipe and while I don't usually stick with it 100%, it's always good to have a jumping off point. And truly, you can never have too many recipes in your recipe box!
Below are a few of my favorite recipe sites:
- $5 Dinners: Erin blogs about her adventure while she tries to cook dinner for her family every evening for under $5 per meal! She has some delicious, cheap recipes and you can search by ingredient.
- Betty Crocker: You can never go wrong with a tried and true recipe from Betty Crocker! Don't forget, you don't have to use Betty Crocker brand ingredients just because that's listed in the recipe.
- Good (& Cheap) Eats: Jessica has some delicious, cheap recipes on her blog and she bakes a lot of foods from scratch, like hot dog buns and cinnamon rolls.
- The Finer Things: Amy blogs about many topics, but one of them is cooking. She has a few very yummy small town recipes that turn out wonderful.
- Kraft Foods: Kraft always has some creative ideas on kid-friendly recipes. I love cooking with my children.
- Once Month Mom: Once a Month Mom blogs about my favorite topic - freezer cooking, also known as once a month cooking. She has some great freezer recipes that you can make, then pull out on a day when you just don't feel like cooking. She also has recipes for homemade babyfood!
- Pillsbury: Like Betty Crocker, Pillsbury has been around for a long time, so they have some recipes that have been tested and approved by moms!
- The Pioneer Woman: The Pioneer Woman makes delicious from-scratch recipes with step-by-step pictures!
- Quick Fix Meals: Robin Lee has a show on The Food Network that is filled with delicious quick meals. You can snag the recipes from her show here.
- Sandra's Money Saving Meals: Sandra has recipes for delicious, cheap meals. Often she takes an expensive meal, like eggplant Parmesan, and shows you a cheaper alternative to make at home. On top of that, she often uses ingredients from her first meal, to make a second to stretch your budget.
- Semi-Homemade Cooking: Sandra also has recipes listed here, however instead of home cooking, she uses a lot of store bought ingredients to make something still delicious, but only semi-homemade.
- Tammy's Recipes: Tammy is the place to go for serious baking! She makes her own bread, waffles, pancakes, etc... and her recipes are absolutely delicious.
- Wholesome Baby Food: If you make your own baby food, this site is filled with creative recipes using everything from apples to avocados!
